Welcome to REALity Check, the youth
ministry of First Baptist Church. Hey, let me explain REALity
Check............it's Relationships, Encouragement, Accountability,
Lifestyle and "checking" in with each other as we live for Jesus
Christ. Middle School & High School Students and College/Young Adults
all can find a place here to hang out, make new friends, and learn about
walking a Christian walk. We have plenty of learning, activities, and
mission opportunities to choose from, so check out the
calendar!
We have great sponsors, so check out their bios (coming soon),
and we have tons of fun, so stop by and check us out!

NOTES FROM SANDY . . .
. . . REALity Check
"Refreshing, Renewing, Powerful, Amazing, A
place to lay your burdens down, I'm closer to
God, Thank you, Thank you." . . . These are a
few of the comments from the journals as people
left the Labyrinth! What a great experience
and certainly one that will be repeated.
We had 55 people go through the Labyrinth
during Holy Week, many church members,
and some people from in the community who
wanted us to keep it open an extra week so
that they could bring their friends!
The Labyrinth was first experienced by the
youth team leaders at the Youth Specialties
Conferences. Pat Littrell had a vision to bring
the whole experience to FBCL and did all of
the research and legwork to get the project off
the ground. Two weekends were spent laying
out the maze and setting it all up.
We couldn't have done it without Mike Kidder
and Rick Chatwell and their trusty laser
level! Also helping in construction and/or running
it, was Malinda Burk, John Littrell,
Brandon Rife, Jeff & Kristy Horstman,
Sharon Chatwell, Bill and Sheryl Kruse, Pat
and myself. The youth came in the Saturday
before it started to get everything ready and
set out the multitudes of candles! They also
helped run it for the week and replaced lots of
candles over and over! Kudos to all of
you. Many people were blessed by the efforts
of a few!
Youth News!
The High School Youth Group
will host a
Graduation Reception on Saturday, June 3,
at 10:00 am for our High School Graduates.
We are very proud of these kids and will miss
them greatly in our youth group. FBCL 2006
graduates are: Jordan Riggs, Martha Duop,
Robert Webster and Adam Turner. Everyone
is invited to join us as we help them celebrate
their special graduation weekend!
FBCL Youth Groups have
been asked by the ABC/Nebraska Region office to lead the JuniorII
camp at Camp Moses Merrill this summer!
A huge THANKS to the
FBCL Foundation for sponsoring the Youth Mission Trip to Sturgis, SD
for the 66th Annual Sturgis Rally! This will be the
third time that the youth group has traveled to northwest Nebraska
or southwest South Dakota to pass out water and the Good News of
Jesus Christ! They also hand out literature about the American
Baptist Aid Station in Deadwood. The Aid Station help bikers
in need with medical, counseling, or just use of a cell phone to
call home.
